EUCALYPTUS RHODANTHA- known as the
Rose Mallee. From the sand plains of
south-western Australia, this spreading
mallee reaching up to 3 m high has smooth,
pale brown bark and powdery, whitish-grey branchlets. Both the juvenile and adult
leaves are rounded to heart shaped,
thick-textured and powdery grey.
The solitary pink or red flowers, to 8 cm across,
are borne on thick pendant stalks. These are followed by broad capsules about 5 cm across.
At the Arboretum several bushes are
flowering in the area above the Western Beds-
Don’t miss these spectacular blooms!
